Spanish pianist Guillem León has been praised by La Vanguardia for his "remarkable musical intelligence and intuition". He has started a multinational career, performing in venues across Spain and in Portugal, Italy, Poland, England and the United States. Within his birth city of Barcelona, he has performed in the Palau de la Música Catalana (Sala de Concerts and Petit Palau), the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Casa Elizalde among others. He has also given performances in Teatros del Canal in Madrid, Musical Arts Center and Auer Hall at Indiana University Bloomington and, most recently, St James Piccadilly in London. He is making his Wigmore Hall debut this year with a solo lunchtime recital as part of the Academy Piano Series.
Guillem completed his Bachelor studies at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona under José Enrique Bagaría with a full scholarship from Fundació Ferrer-Salat, and has recently graduated with a Master of Arts from the Royal Academy of Music under Tatiana Sarkissova with the support of the Snowdon Trust and the Fundación Grupo Sifu, receiving a DipRAM distinction for his performance. He is staying at the Royal Academy for a Professional Diploma thanks to the support of the Drake Calleja Trust, the Tillet Trust/Colin keer Trust, the Elizabeth Eagle-Bott Memorial Fund and the Leverhulme Trust.
Guillem has received prices in competitions such as the European Music Competition in Moncalieri, the Concurs Internacional de Música de les Corts in Barcelona and the BMF Music Competition in New York. He was awarded a VSA International Young Soloists Award from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2021, and has received multiple scholarships to participate in festivals and academies such as the Semana Internacional de Piano Obidos, the Edward Auer Piano Workshop and the Indiana University Piano Academy. He has recently worked with and received guidance from pianists such as Boris Berman, Yuki Negishi, Yevgeni Sudbin and Eugen Indjic.
Apart from his work as a soloist, he is also very passionate about collaborative music, his latest project being his performance with mezzo-soprano Cristina Tena in the Música Z concert cycle in Barcelona.
